  • Total Time: 45
  • Yield: 6 tarts 1x

Ingredients

Scale

6 pre-made puff pastry sheets
6 medium apples, cored and thinly sliced
7 tablespoons granulated sugar (2 tablespoons for caramel, 5 tablespoons for topping)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (divided)
Pinch of salt
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C)
Place puff pastry squares in a greased 6-inch tart pan or round molds
In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat to form caramel
Add apple slices to the skillet and sauté until slightly softened, 3-4 minutes
Sprinkle 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon and salt over apples
Arrange caramelize apple slices evenly in each puff pastry shell
Top with remaining sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Bake for 20-25 minutes, until pastry is golden and crisp
Let cool to room temperature before gently flipping to serve

Notes

Use any tart-shaped molds (ramekins or oven-safe dishes)
Substitute apples with peaches, pears, or figs if desired
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate for 5 days
Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 10 minutes to restore crispness
For vegan version, use plant-based puff pastry and substitute butter with coconut oil
