  • Total Time: 35
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb (450g) ground turkey (93% lean)
1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
1 bell pepper (any color), diced
2 cups tomato sauce (store-bought or homemade)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (alcohol-free)
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
4 soft hamburger buns, split

Instructions

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey, breaking it apart with a spoon.
Cook until browned and no longer pink (about 8-10 minutes). Add onions and bell pepper; sauté 3-5 minutes.
Stir in tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
Bring to a simmer. Reduce heat, cover, and cook 10 minutes until sauce thickens and flavors meld.
Warm buns, then spoon mixture into each bun. Serve immediately.

Notes

For richer texture, let the sauce rest at room temperature before reheating.
Substitute tomato sauce with marinara for a different flavor profile.
Check buns for dairy content if avoiding lactose.
Leftovers refrigerate well for 3-4 days.
